Four One Acts Reveal Love and Faith by Mary Mallory, Tolucan Times.

Filled with humor, compassion, and comment on the human spirit, the First Light Players present a series of One-Act plays that gently preach the messages of faith, family, and prayer during this holiday season.

Olivia Gowan’s Roots in the Wind presents a bland blind date between Maybree (Brittney Rose), a Georgia girl now living in Los Angeles, and Tom Kelly (Jeff Adelman), a Georgia native. Maybree realizes that her goofy mother (Catherine Brewton) really loves her, while her mother understands that Maybree must pursue her dreams on the West Coast.

Hilarious yet touching, Eric Feliciano’s Mom’s Ashes reveals the troubles a near-do-well (John Brickner) brings on his brother’s (Feliciano) family when he steals from his mafia head boss. Will prayer solve the day? Brickner’s physicality tics, and emotional reactions steal the show.

Kay Dease’s simple but affecting A Little Corner in Nowhere shows the various guardian angels protecting a middle-aged woman (Carol Shearer) affected with dementia. It states that giving love is something special year round, not just at Christmas.

A Quiet Christmas Eve by Greg Beastrom tells the predicament of a married couple (Ross Araujo and Elizabeth Donovan) hoping to spend a quiet Christmas Eve together, only to be interrupted by needy, lonely friends. These disparate individuals form a family that love and support each other.

A little long, the evening could be tighter with only three plays instead of four.
An entertaining evening of laughs and thoughtful moments, these one acts reveal that love is the true meaning of the Christmas season.
